Department of Eagles pt.II

A few months ago, I was wishing that the Department of Eagles would get into the studio and record the follow up album to their awe-inspiring Whitey on the Moon LP. With no updates or new material in sight and Daniel on tour with grizzly bear, I had given up all hope that new material would surface. Shortly after I was sent an e-mail from Fred, one half of Department of Eagles, explaining the status of the album and its recording progress. In it he said the following:

“When he (Daniel) gets back from tour we’ll hopefully be able to record again. We actually have a full album’s worth of material completely written, it’s just hard to find time to actually lay it down.”

I was pretty shocked that an entire album had been written already and couldn’t wait to hear more. Today we get another taste of the new album. The new track is titled “No one does it like you” and it is fantastic. I’ve been anticipating Department of Eagles sophomore album for quite some time. Their last album ‘Whitey on the Moon’ hasn’t left my regular rotation since I first listened to it. I also have two other (demo I presume) tracks from the upcoming Department of Eagles album in case you missed them the first time around that I posted them.

Swirling and ghostly vocals set to a two step Inkspots meet the Shirelle’s slanky rhythm, what could be better? You must listen to this newly released track:

Deparment of Eagles – No one does it like you

Deparment of Eagles – Balmy Night

Deparment of Eagles – Deadly Disclosure

*small update: I made a mistake.. my cd-r promo from my colleges radio station is labeled ‘Kill’ whitey on the moon when in fact it’s sans the Kill. Whoops. Sorry for any confusion.
