Karen Dalton's Green Rocky Road

June 10th sees the new release of Karen Dalton’s Green Rocky Road, a collection of songs dating from 1962-1963. Like last years Cotton Eyed Joe, Green Rocky Road finds Dalton in her early 20’s and at ease in the studio- it wouldn’t be until her later 60’s official studio albums that she would release a full record. The collection of home demos taped by Joe Loop on Green Rocky Road, provide a glimpse and listen of what a full studio album would have sounded like if she had released the songs as an album. To hear Dalton in her early 20’s is a really endearing and to know how strongly she was influencing those around her at the time only adds to the experience.

  1. Her voice really sounds like the voices coming out today like Alela Diane. And by the way I’m very bummed out I am not old enough for those shows you talked about
