Stop for a moment, before you passively pass the previous words before this, skimming down for an mp3 and do yourself a favor and read just a bit further. Babe, Terror fresh out of a young and assumingly only beginning to grow Brasilian movement of (can I attempt to put words to it) psychedelic and experimental artists is singlehandedly the most exciting new artist I’ve heard in weeks. Combining swirling landscapes of Portuguese melodies with mountains of phased mouth drumming, Babe Terror invokes the spirits that to some extent I feel only artists such as Animal Collective or Devendra Banhart have captured on record recently. Entirely raw, challengingly natural yet at the same time wholly nurturing upon first listen, Babe, Terror completely caught me off guard. I can only compare these new demos to Animal Collectives early output of challenging but ultimately extremely rewarding music given further listens.
Hailing from São Paulo, Brazil, Babe, Terror is an artist to watch: download 2 new demo tracks from his forthcoming EP. By some chance of fate I found my old Pioneer headphones just before listening to these tracks and as suggested on his website “Pick up your big headphones” before listening…
(Force some more contemporary comparisons out of me and I may mention TV on the Radio, Grizzly Bear and as mentioned previously Animal Collective)
