Naturalismo Goes Global

Hi friends! My life in Los Angeles has expired and it’s time to rebirth myself into the world. Part of it, anyway. On Friday morning I’m packing up my car and driving across the country back to my Bostonian birthplace. There I’ll be fumbling and puttering about aimlessly for a few weeks before an airplane lifts me out of New York City and towards London on September 6. After that, who knows? Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Switzerland, Venice, Rome, Florence, Nice, Marseille, Barcelona, Valencia…whereever my momentum dictates. It’s going to be a lot of fun, moving about on my own two feet with a giant stuffed backpack. I’m going to do my best to keep posting about what I see and, more importantly, what I hear while I’m abroad. I want to find the places where good music happens; problem is, I don’t know where those places are yet. I’ll find them, though. Rest assured I will.

I know there a lot of readers that either live in Europe or have traveled there extensively. To these worldly souls, I ask for your words of wisdom, your advice, your suggestions, or even your floorspace if you have any. I’ll be a poor boy a long ways from home, so whatever morsels of insight you can offer will be returned with great appreciation and humble gratitude. There’s a long road ahead — I can only hope our paths will cross someday.

  1. Dear Naturalismo!

I am i big fan of your blog, it’s the one I like the most :)

You should really spend a few days i Copenhagen! Its a quite colorful and “alternative” capital, with a pretty good music scene, cool record shops and Christiania of course.

    Have a good trip,

i’ve just got back from doing something similar, it’s such a blast!

manchester has a pretty cool music scene, but sadly it’s worlds apart from london… worth checkin out though.

also the link above is for a campsite in Munich that is gaining a cult following, i started my trip there and it was great. very social and very laid back.

    all the best naturalismo :)

  6. You have to visit Berlin as well.
Ok, it’s mainly hyped as the Capital of Party, but there are nice places beside of that.
For interesting music, I recommend the “Schokoladen”.

    Have a good trip!

  7. Hiya,

If you happen to pass by Belgium i might be able to provide floorspace (& music). Maybe you can look me up on couchsurfing or something. Or you can e-mail me.

PS: love this blog since it’s absolute beginning!

  10. Hey Tyler! Tell me when you’re in Belgium and maybe I can suggest some nice gigs in Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent or anywhere… And if you’re looking for a place to sleep, me and my girlfriend live in Antwerp, always offering you a couch.

    Have a great trip!

  11. hey there,

just came across your blog but i’ve got some words of wisdom to pay forward: try not to leave your headphones in too much. i went to amsterdam on my own two feet a couple years ago and was overwhelmed with the beautiful swirl of languages all around me. europe’s got that to offer all around. have fun wherever you wind up! oh, and kurt vonnegut says that “peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from god.” so take all the dancing lessons your feet can handle :)
