Not going to even try and pretend that her music hasn’t been increasingly consuming me the past week. On to something in a big way. It’s like Lio x tusk era Lindsey Buckingham + ♡ and just the right amount of Cocteau Twins thrown in.

And her new single:

This video always bears repeating.

Although Grimes recalls Lio’s first more brooding solo album a bit more than these bits of, oh why bother classifying..where’s the dance remixes of Grimes and Peaking Lights already?

Pretty intergalactic still but with a theremin induced hook that is easily catchier than his other famously penned song “Spirit in the Sky.” Greenbaum has always been an artist of which to leave no stone unturned because he really has a lot of other great songs. Kind of in a Space Hymns part II mode lately.

Scene from the movie “Quiet days in Clichy”, based on a novel by Henry Miller and set to extremely addicting music by Country Joe McDonald that glosses over the subject matter by being wrapped in a halcyon melody.
Naked bachelor debauched days of yore, the clip goes from semi nostalgic to racy to generally offensive. I love it. (I wouldn’t watch it at work.) Good luck getting the song out of your head.

I’ve been watching a lot of dystopian future films lately and wandering around random industrial pockets of New York while listening to outsider kraut albums. I usually end up gravitating towards more fringe kraut that leans towards a more melodic and regular song structure with sparse vocals rather than the vaguely cheesier aspects it can wander into. This song by Novalis is pretty on the level and its dystopian slide guitar intro with black hole synth line plays out like some post-apocalyptic take on Fleetwood Mac’s Albatross. For your next eclipsed sunrise:

This post has mutated several times over. What can I say, the weather has been as manic as my listening habits. Yesterday it was a collection of lost rainy day pop songs but it’s all blue skies today so I scrapped that and figured what better time to try and trace the melodic past of one of my favorite semi-shadow musicians whose traces can be found all over a lot of the best albums over the past two decades. Get to know Jimi Hey, he just joined Holy Shit:
Beachwood Sparks - Canyon Ride (live version better) [2000]

Ssaliva’s new album is killin it. The song Moth to a Flame immediately caught my ear and after a few listens I realized that the gauzy reverbed out dubby riff was transferred from one of my favorite Durutti Column tracks.

All the usual Know Phase trappings; Native Americansploitation shot by post-dadaist tripping Italians in the mid 80′s (Arrapaho) segueing into a Kurt Vonnegut inspired chrono-synclastic shelled dreamstate (Between Time and Timbuktu) all set to Peaking Light’s mind meltingly good new song Tiger Eyes (Laid Back). Feeling like I want to bring VJing back in a new way, starting now.
