Martin Newell is an unabashed underground genius who has crafted some of the most boundary pushing outsider pop songs you’ve most likely never heard. Mostly known for the Cleaners from Venus and his solo material it’s unfortunate that as a general rule of thumb for his albums the more difficult to track down it is – the more exponentially great they are. It’s odd that his best ofs and re-released albums pale in comparison to his earliest mostly unreleased material. That said here’s a late era completely forgotten golden track from a side project of his called Brotherhood of Lizards. Consider this chapter II in the Know Phase ongoing Newell posts. Here’s a polar opposite track I posted a bit back by his first (unbelievably good) band The Stray Trolleys.
