The perfect Tuesday song. Has a bit of a Cass McCombs/Curt Boettcher or even Lennon solo tape era feeling to it with its warm slide guitar and dissolving melodies. From the private press album In Debt.

The Smiths – Rubber Ring 三 Asleep

For some unknown reason the non-album b-side to The Boy With the Thorn in His Side Rubber Ring/Asleep only appeared in its original form on the first issued 12″ and every version released thereafter split them into two-breaking apart the voiceover transition. The dichotomy between the two songs is a manic as the relationship between the rain and sun have been lately. Enjoy it in its original form:

The only thing better than the original 12″ Rubber Ring…the 1984 Demo of it. In close contention for being better than the final version. That guitar..

Maria Minerva – Ruff Trade // Caroline Crawley

Maria’s latest lp features some of the most subtly enchanting songs I’ve come across in awhile. It’s that rare breed of music that on repeated listens somehow reveals more. Her beautiful new video for the song Ruff Trade:

One of the handful of Syd Barrett covers that can keep up/surpass. The last minute is cosmically intertwined with Minerva.

Killer guitar riff and awes0me single from the Egyptian Lover in 1984. Doing it soo right. The mix of sweltering guitar set against a perfect beat recalls Blood Orange’s latest effort a bit:

The Times – Snow

Ed Ball’s repertoire is extremely varied and somewhat confusing to navigate. Even within The Times catalog the difference between Ball’s first music with them compared to his later 80′s releases is night and day. It’s easier to follow his music output by era but in doing so most will overlook his later Times releases that showcased some of his strongest writing. Falling somewhere between My Bloody Valentine and early New Order-but to my ears sounding even more contemporary. He conjures something more akin to Greatest Hits latest songs over the past year. Here’s two versions of one of my favorite Times songs:

I think this is actually an earlier version but wasn’t released until later
