For you LA residents out there, here’s something to get excited about for the next couple Thursday nights that doesn’t involve self-destruction in any form. Crazy, right? The Silent Movie Theatre, now Cinefamily, is presenting a Thursday night series of folk-related films that even includes the Los Angeles “redwood carpet” (I’ve been dying to write that for weeks) premiere of FolkYEAH’s Festival in the Forest Documentary! Other gems include Sing-Sing Thanksgiving, Hootenanny Hoot, Heartworn Highways, Vashti Bunyan: From Here to Before, Earl Scruggs: His Family and Friends, and the amazing Celebration in Big Sur. And definitely don’t miss “Folk Shredders Night,” an evening of rarely screened clips of Bert Jansch, Ralph McTell, Jan Akkerman and Stefan Grossman hanging out and riffing hard together. Then, on that same night, enjoy the documentary Sandy Bull: No Deposit No Return Blues, made with loving care by his daughter KC Bull. End the night with a performance from Guy Blakeslee of The Entrance Band, and frolic beneath the moon.

Fader Magazine’s very own Daniel Arnold was sent undercover into the idyllic environs of the Festival in the Forest. The stunningly beautiful images and words contained herein are presented – Diane Arbus eat your heart out – to communicate the true magic of the fest. Tears of joy may ensue.

It is with great pleasure and ecstaticment that we here at Naturalismo can finally tell you about a benefit concert that we’re helping put on in Big Sur that just so happens to be THE EVENT of the summer. It has only been possible (and a giant thanks to) Folkyeah and Arthur Magazine. It’s been a long time coming and many months-actually now years-to get to this point. A cohesive and wholly compelling musical movement that has made both Tyler and I unable to do anything but feature every aspect of it. The culmination point arrives at allowing us to present live in concert artists such as Devendra Banhart with MEGAPUSS, Guy Blakeslee with The Entrance Band, Silver Jews, Tussle, Beach House and Little Wings among many others in the full lineup below. In what I can only describe as the biggest blow out in summer music festivals, Naturalismo is proud to be a part of making a summer music event so lasting and powerful that it should last you through the next. Tickets go on sale July 23rd (Today!) and I’d buy earlier rather than later because this WILL sell out. Stay tuned to Naturalismo for more updates.

Tag, we’re it. Our good friend Jody over at When You Awake just tagged us with a type of blog chain letter called the “Seven Songs Shaping Your Summer.” Here’s the deal:
“List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now, shaping your summer. Post these instructions in your blog along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they’re listening to.”
